The present paper discusses genetic aspects of the genesis of quartz veins in the Lausitz Block. Based on fluid and melt inclusions in the quartz of Steinigtwolmsdorf, the formation of this vein is attributed to the magmatic-high-hydrothermal range. The supercritical condition indicates the beginning of the quartz crystallization. During the cooling process, a solvus opens with the critical point at about 740 °C and water content of 27 % (g/g) to lower temperatures (approximately 650 °C). During this process, two silicate melts with different water content are formed. These processes likely proceed in a closed system. Upon cooling the system opens and hydrothermal and redeposition processes dominate.
