Increased fuel costs and environmental concerns have contributed to renewable energy sources arising as alternatives to fossil fuel. Part of renewable energy, forest biomass resources is considered important renewable materials and energy sources in many countries. This review paper presents a different impact on climate change between using forest residue and energy forest trees both considered as forest biomass material. Based on the literature review, using forest residue is considered carbon neutral in the use of biomass energy feedstock.
