The performance brought together leading practitioners from Australia (Damien Kingston, Tom Robb, Alethea Coombe, Wendy Morrow), The Netherlands (Frank Van de Ven) and New Zealand (Mike Hornblow) to showcased new approaches to multidisciplinary free improvisation in an innovative format. The output included a performance event comprised of solo performances, duo performances pairing musicians and dancers, trio performances presenting performers from each discipline separately and a culminating ensemble performance featuring three musicians and three dancers freely improvising together. Afterwards, a panel comprising all involved discussed the improvisations and fielded questions from the audience. Performances utilised various improvisatory approaches including body weather dance, no-input mixing, prepared instruments and extended instrumental techniques. The format of the performances utilised innovative approaches to multidisciplinary arts practice. These were the first artistic meetings of each of the artists, no rehearsal or previous performances had taken place between any artists from the different disciplines.
