We posit that traditionally-adopted coping typologies that focus on the function of coping responses such as task- or emotion-oriented, may not adequately differentiate effective and ineffective coping in entrepreneurs, and that temporal dimensions of coping should be considered when assessing coping in this occupational group. We urge scholars to adopt a wider temporal lens through which to investigate coping responses in entrepreneurs.
