Abstract

This work is part of a series/collection that explores the use of three colours to create a work that leaves the impression of a dreamlike or surreal landscape. The colours (Raw Sienna, Ultramarine and Black) have been blended on a white canvas, thinned, removed and just generally worked until the layers and forms resulted in the traces of the familiar landscape of my childhood home The Tamar Valley. Looking up the river, I often saw the light filtering through to signify when a storm was clearing. These events fostered feelings of anticipation, hope and excitement as the weather changed.
