Abstract
It's a truism that timing is everything in
theatre. Take the timing of the Stanley Volk
staged reading of 'The Disputation'. Performed
on July 21, it was 755 years to the day since the
historic confrontation known as the Disputation
of Barcelona (1263) - the strategy being that
a victory for the Christian side would lead to a
mass conversion of the Jews.
