The purpose or this paper was to develop environmen1al baseline information to identify the present physical and environmental conditions of Jamuna Floodplain area using Google Earth and IRS images. These images are useful for the baseline development for any ElA project components and activities. It should be noted that purposes depend on different types of IEC's and their characteristics. This study developed guidelines for the use of Google Earth and IRS images in their respective purposes. Baseline information for Flood Control Embankment and River Bank Protection on the left bank of Jamuna and right bank of Dhaleswari at Nagarpur and Chowhali were identified using available remote sensing data in this research work.
