Creative Leadership and the Hadley’s Art Prize Hobart (HAPH)

This paper explores the characteristics of creative leadership inherent in developinga major art prize with a significant education component. The Hadley’s Art PrizeHobart (HAPH) is the richest landscape art prize in the world. Since its inception ithas included an education kit in order to engage teachers and students and enhancetheir understanding and enjoyment of the exhibition. The creative and collaborativeprocess between the curator of the HAPH and the art education specialists whodeveloped the 2018 education kit is explored in this paper using the methodology ofnarrative inquiry. The three commonplaces of temporality, sociality and place foreach participant was explored. The research found that although there are a rangeof personal attributes and characteristics that are evident in participants of longterm collaborations, it is also possible for these to occur in shorter termcollaborations such as the HAPH Education Kit.
