Abstract

Self-management strategies such as following a diet plan, avoiding high fat foods, increased exercise and self-glucose monitoring to navigate daily decisions have been shown to improve health outcomes for adults with type 2 diabetes. However, translating evidence-based recommendations into practical strategies has proven challenging and many individuals fail to achieve the glycaemic management needed to avoid diabetes-related complications. This article aims to provide practical strategies to support health professionals to engage adults with diabetes in exercise in a meaningful way.
