This document details a pilot study for the development of a Geographical Information System (GIS) database for coastal values in the Glenelg-Hopkins region. Information about the structure of the GIS and the nature of the data is also provided. The database was compiled as a research project by the Deakin University GIS Facility in response to discussions with the Western Coastal Board and relates to the key coastal value of recreational fishing and other, associated, values. This value was chosen for use in the pilot study because it was identified as a high-priority issue for the region in Ludowyk (2006). It was also chosen because it was a value which was likely to have a large number of potential indicators within existing spatial datasets.
