Mystery Walls
Mystery Walls displayed artwork from several prestigious – but hidden – private art collections based in Launceston and Tasmania. Many of the artworks on display have never before been seen by the general public. The works have been collected over decades, hidden away, enjoyed and admired by family and friends of the collectors. This exhibition was a rare opportunity for University academics, historians and curators to view and academically research artworks that after this exhibition may forever be hidden again and secreted away behind closed doors. Designed and curated as exposure of hidden personal thinking, the exhibition canvassed the objectivity and meaning of contemporary collecting within a secular and capitalist driven economy.
