Abstract
El Chalten in the Los Glaciares National Park in southern Patagonia is Argentina’s premier hiking destination. It is about 200km north of El Calafate airport, and is the start of expeditions heading to world famous locations such as Mt FitzRoy. This stunning peak is an extremely technically challenging mountain that draws mountaineers from around the world, and was used as the basis for the logo of the Patagonia clothing company. Although hikers are unlikely to ever see the view from the summit, the view of the peak is a worthy substitute. One of the best locations to get this view is Laguna de Los Tres.
