Abstract
A number of approaches were used to identify the research trends and priorities in the field of health
information management, from the perspectives of recent published literature, industry, and funding
organisations in Australia. From this, the research themes identified were: Coding, Classification &
Casemix; Data & databases; Discipline; Documentation; Education; Health information technology and
systems [HIT/S]; Information Governance; Management; Public Health; Quality; processes to analyse
health information systems [System Analysis]; and Workforce.
