As mentioned earlier, domestic politics of a country play a huge role in the development of its foreign policy, not least Taiwan. The linkage between the democratization of domestic politics and the foreign policy direction of a country can be explained by the pluralization of the policy formulation process, in this case foreign policy. This aspect is taken from the opinion of William Coplin (1992) who sees that the more democratic the domestic politics of a country, the more pluralistic the process of policy formulation of the country. The notion of pluralization here is the increasing importance of the role of policy influencers, ie, the influential groups in the policy-making process. The pluralization of the policy-making process means that the policy-making process is no longer fully determined by the government, but rather the result of interaction with the various elements that play a role in the process.
