Improvising Soloist with the Julius Schwing Quintet

Dobson, A, Improvising Soloist with the Julius Schwing Quintet, Sixty Jazz Club, Hobart, Tasmania (2014) [Performance Practice]

Pending copyright assessment - Request a copy

This is the premier of the Julius Schwing Quintet, the first time Julius has presented his material in quintet form. The evening will comprise mainly of Julius’s own songs, both old and new. New tunes will receive a breath of fresh air with this larger ensemble and new ones have been written specifically for quintet. Expect swinging, rowdy, loose textures with gung-ho "nothing to lose" solos (bombs dropping all over the place) as well as focused and tender minimal sound-scapes. The focus for the evening is to create energy, in all directions! Featuring: Julius Schwing – Electric and acoustic guitar Kelly Ottaway – Piano Alistair Dobson – Saxophone Nick Haywood – Double Bass Alf Jackson – Drums and percussion
