Abstract

Live Site Catalyst (LSC) is a School of Creative Arts (SOCA) University of Tasmania project focusing on the contested post-industrial landscape and regional community of Triabunna, north east of Hobart. Live Site Catalyst triggers unfolding events, conversations and narratives via celebrating existing strengths and activating new potential. Live Site Catalyst is a creative collaborative project between SOCA researchers (Lucy Bleach, John Vella and Kit Wise), and is an Institute for the Study of Social Change Flagship Project, funded by the University of Tasmania. In 2016 Triabunna won the national Tidy Town (TT) Community Award, recognising the town’s remarkable attention to environmental conservation and sustainability, community health and wellbeing. The care local residents take of their private gardens clearly played a part in the town winning the TT award, and discussions with locals affirmed the significance of gardens as a barometer of the town’s ‘health’.
