Abstract
There are currently 4,930 nationally registered VET organisations and 41 universities, operating across Australia. Although the number of VET providers outweighs universities by 120%, Australian universities are offering 72% of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) with VET trailing at 18%. While international learner completion results for university MOOCs are cited as being 6%-38%. This article reports on the preliminary findings from an action research study of learners enrolled in VET MOOCs, Small Private Online Courses and online courses, at the Canberra Institute of technology. With learner analytics indicating VET MOOCs are achieving student completion rates of 63% over two years.
