Church and State was selected for inclusion in the Mdina Biennale by curator Dr Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci and presented at the Mdina Cathedral Museum, in Mdina, Malta.

Church and State has established ongoing international opportunities for publication that have included works by Vella being included in additional group exhibitions in Malta and Austria.

The Mdina Biennale 272 page hard copy catalogue was widely circulated and the exhibition was covered in number of articles and reviews within Malta and beyond.

This project has inspired a series of material, bureaucratic and abstract investigations that are informing Vella’s current PhD project.
