The University of Tasmania with the assistance of Awake Consulting distributed an online sustainability survey in early 2016. The survey captured the voices of both staff and students with targeted surveys developed for each cohort. This paper will present on the methodology underpinning the design, the aims and intentions of the survey and consider how the survey will be used to inform the strategic direction and monitoring of sustainability across the University. Specifically, this paper will elaborate on the inclusive process for developing and implementing the survey; which received over 1500 responses in a two-week period. The paper will conclude with a reflection on the process with recommendations for other institutions paving a similar path.
