In the wake of the debate over changing the date of Australia Day, how much do we know about Australian history? Why do kids hate Australian history, and what are we doing about it? This question is being posed by Dr Louise Zarmati. She’s a lecturer in Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Tasmania where she’s teaching teachers how to teach history. She thinks getting kids out of the classrooms and into some of the great museums and heritage sites I Tasmania would be a good start – as she tells Belinda King.
