A map of the world can be likened to a patchwork quilt with its varying sizes of countries, stitched and restitched boundaries, diversity of colour and texture, and endless seas of blue in-between. This presentation unfolds a patchwork of practices to show how a/r/tography is being enacted around the world by early through to established career academics and arts educators. The individual contexts shared in this presentation represent the perspectives and practices of a/r/tographers working across six continents and seven countries (Australia, Brazil, Canada, Iran, Taiwan, USA and Spain), offering insights into their experiences of conducting a/r/tographic studies, or teaching courses with an a/r/tographic influence. Coupled with appreciating educational practices as research and inquiry, this presentation examines the journeys undertaken by these arts educators as they conceptualised and engaged in practice based research that used the arts and education as their basis for inquiry.
