Abstract
The number of small and micro enterprises in China has been increasing along with the economic growth of the country. However, these small and micro enterprises are challenged by a lack of motivation for the employees, particularly the core employees, who are not able to exercise their full potential in the workplace. This study finds that an equitable and diverse remuneration system and emotional support are the key to motivate core employees of small and micro enterprises.
