Scientists had a problem: they wanted to know more about the ocean currents around Antarctica. With growing evidence that the Southern SO +0.89% Ocean is changing, they needed a way to collect temperature and salinity data at a wide range of depths, but no easy way to do it. They soon realized that this data had already been collectedóby seals.
