This presentation investigates male pre service primary school teacher recruitment and retention. While there is no shortage of men in secondary schools and leadership positions; the same cannot be said for the primary classroom (Patrick, 2009). According to Livingstone (2003), the small number of male teachers in primary schools has also been found to be declining. Therefore it is essential to tackle this issue in order to reverse the current trend.
