In this paper, we introduce a novel technique for real-time reflections called Image-Space Environment Reflections (ISER) with the intent of reducing the limitations of screen-space reflections. The technique involves tracing rays in the image-space of an environment map supported by the addition of a depth-buffer. ISER features strong parallax effects and is shown to provide a greater accuracy of reflections than static techniques typically used in gaming applications, whilst also maintaining real-time frame-rates at high resolutions.
