This exhibition, featuring drawing, sculpture, printmaking and photography is the result of a collaboration between IMAS marine spatial analyst, Dr Vanessa Lucieer and two visual artists from the Tasmanian College of the Arts; Dr Jan Hogan, Printmaking Coordinator and Annalise Rees, PhD candidate.

Science and the visual arts both utilise the image as a means of visualising information explaining our complex relationship to the world. The image becomes an abstraction of data, re-presenting and translating ideas linking the material and immaterial, seen and unseen.

The works explore ways of communicating ideas about the unknown and unseen environment of the ocean, creating a dialogue between disciplines where image making is of central concern to communicating effectively.

Floor Talk at 2.30-3.30pm, Friday, 19 August.

How do you create an image of something that you cannot see? This exhibition is a collaboration between a marine spatial analyst and two visual artists who each use the image as a primary means of translating the marine environment.
