Abstract
This commercially released recording is of unrehearsed repertoire with myself and 2 internationally recognised significant improvisers from an older generation. Cross-generational approaches to collective improvisation through shared musical language, group dynamic and accepted parameters of traditional musical roles were investigated. The research in this area is significant, particularly given that my collaborators are both well into their 70s, and the opportunity to investigate genuine cross-generational collective improvisation with collaborators who began their careers in the era before the inception of free improvised jazz will become increasingly uncommon.
