Abstract
Choro is inspired by Brazilian choro and Argentinian tango music. While not explicitly quoting these musical styles, the piece intends to evoke the syncopated rhythms, certain sultry gestures, frequent harmonic changes and virtuosity of South American dance music. Choro was written for pianist Shan Deng.
