Birrarung River Drawing

composition
posted on 2023-05-25, 08:30 authored by Wise, K
Birrarung River Drawing, an urban performance piece by MADA's Kit Wise, will be performed by eight choreographed kayakers on the Yarra (Birrarung) River. The kayakers will pull 20 metre banners in a changing formation between the Swan Street Bridge and the Morell Bridge (behind AAMI Park). Referring to the design languages of aquatic sport and marine architecture, the work draws attention to the river as a dynamic social space. Birrarung River Drawing is part of the Birrarung Project, commissioned as part of the 2014 Melbourne Food & Wine Festival and curated by Maudie Palmer, Vice-Chancellor's Professorial Fellow with MADA. What: Birrarung River Drawing When: 28 February, 12pm - 1pm Where: Yarra (Birrarung) River, between the Swan Street Bridge and Morell Bridge
