The department or school is the environment that joins systemic policy and the practice of supporting sessional staff to provide the highest-quality learning and teaching experiences. Within university structures, faculties are composed of multiple departments. Deparments are usually formed around an academic discipline or field, and can vary in size as well as organisational and managerial processes. Heads of departments or schools are usually responsible for, or oversee, the recruitment, induction, management, support, and professional development of sessional staff.
