Abstract
As part of the SGC's expansion and community engagement, I initiated the SGCNW - a quasi autonomous franchise of the SGC. The push into the NW of Tasmania was made to (1) establish whether the SGC and it's reworking of African American gospel music could make a musical and emotional connection in a rural city that did not have the established SGC tradition behind it. The performance, as with the majority of research, tests the theory in real time, video audience responses and surveying them online to establish the degree of connection - ir indeed, the success of the concert.
