Abstract
Proton induced X-ray emission has been used to provide a rapid, accurate and precise elemental analysis of microcrystalline vein quartz over domains of 3 mm diameter. Particular trace element concentrations were shown to correlate strongly with the intensity of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of the same material.
